Live Music : Gavin Osborn

Acclaimed singer-songwriter Gavin Osborn arrives at The Blue Man cafe with fire in his belly, stories to tell and a burgeoning sense of hope in his heart.

A regular on the festival scene (Latitude, Green Man), familiar to listeners of BBC Radio 4 (Alun Cochrane's Fun House) and having returned from a run at the Melbourne Arts Centre with Daniel Kitson (Stories For The Starlit Sky), this is part of Gavin's first solo UK tour in three years.

Featuring life-affirming, funny, personal and political songs, including some from his brand new record, 'Echo Bridge'.

'Funny and touching' - Stewart Lee, The Sunday Times.

'In true Loudon Wainwright spirit, he sings about serious things without taking himself too seriously. Splendidly sad tales of unrequited love and some proper protest music. Genuinely brilliant' - eFestivals

Sunday Sessions : Harry Hornsey & Alfie Bernardi

Local Brighton legends Harry Hornsey and Alfie Bernardi share a passion for the great country blues performers of the 1920’s and 30’s and decided to team up in 2014 to bring this passion to the masses. Combined with a love for the aesthetic and sound of 50’s America they have created a dynamic and rip-roaring show that leaves audiences spell bound. Harry Hornsey has devoted over a decade to perfecting the guitar and vocal techniques of his pre-war blues heroes such as Blind Blake, Blind Lemon Jefferson and Robert Johnson, a journey that has lead him to explore not only the music but also the history and culture of this inspiring period. Alfie Bernardi began playing harmonica on the London blues circuit back in the early 90’s and has gained recognition as a true master of the Chicago and county blues harp. Together they form a duo that has delighted crowds in and around Brighton over the past two years dealing up a soulful, exciting and heart felt interpretation of the blues.

Edinburgh Previews- John Hastings and Phil Jerrod

Hullabalooman Comedy is very excited to be hosting it’s first Edinburgh Preview this June. We have two superb award winning comedians treating us to a sneaky preview of what they’ll be getting up to in Edinburgh this year.

JOHN HASTINGS

John Hastings has been performing stand up all over his native Canada since 2006. Since winning the 2010 Irwin Barker Canadian Homegrown Championship at the Montreal Just for Laughs Festival, he has been nominated for a Canadian Comedy award in the category of Best Newcomer and was named one of the five "comedians to watch" by the Canadian Comedy Network. He was the youngest featured performer at the 2011 Winnipeg Comedy Festival and was the youngest and only Canadian finalist of the 2011 San Francisco International Comedy Festival. His stand up comedy special was chosen to be the last ever, on the 15-show run of Canada’s only stand up comedy showcase program “Comedy Now.” After 6 years John also won the prestigious COCA Comedian of the year award for 2012. Now his comedic pursuits take him to the United Kingdom and he nervously okay with being here.

Live Music : Harry & The Gondolas

A three-piece alternative folk band bringing a selection of raw, foot-stomping songs infused with dynamic harmonies and bubbly bass lines. The trio are beginning to gain the attention of the UK folk scene, developing a strong following at notable headline and support shows, appearing on significant festival lineups and recently conducting European and Australian tours. After a highly successful release of their debut single 'No Country For Old Men', Harry & The Gondolas are establishing themselves as a driven, creative and versatile new folk outfit. Their upcoming EP is just the start of a very busy year for the band...

"With influences such as Mumford and Sons, Bears Den and Ben Howard, it is clear why Harry and the Gondolas are the perfect accompaniment to go with that cold cider you’re craving. Their chilled nu-folk, acoustic sound and Gould’s deep resonating vocals carry the crowd toe tapping and hand clapping through fast-paced Irish-folk to mellow ballads." - Bristol Live Magazine

Christopher Matthewson
“A really good guitar player” – Ralph Rolle (Chic)

"A truly fine guitar player; an exceptional voice" – Jo Harman (Female Vocalist of the year 2014)

"Christopher Matthewson. Remember the name. He's signed to a different management company to our own but that doesn't stop me from marking him out as one to watch. Chris has got something special" - Mark Ede (BigiAm Music Management)

Daisy Chute (solo)
Daisy Chute is a folk/americana artist who has released 3 platinum-selling studio albums with Universal Records. As well as an award-winning singer and songwriter (Classical Brits, BBC, UKSWF), Daisy has worked alongside rock royalty Ray Davies and Kasabian and was a featured vocalist on Radiohead's latest album A Moon Shaped Pool. With songwriting comparisons to Joni Mitchell (BBC Radio), Daisy's singing has been described as “Exquisitely delicious. Delicate, like a gossamer-winged creature made out of spun gold."
